Workbook Step 3 thinking ahead
Quad-language version with more exercises; ideal for those who have worked through all Step 1–3 workbooks or want to revisit the lower steps.
Contents
Workbook Step 3 thinking ahead is no longer sold out. The international version has been published.
The second edition is a 4-language version, which means more exercises and no reminders (those can be downloaded). More than half of the exercises have been adjusted or replaced compared to the first edition.
The Step 3 themes return in part. That gives an indication of which information must be retrieved from long-term memory, freeing more working memory for thinking ahead.
Who is it for?
The audience for whom the book is useful is very broad. The first target group is those who have worked through all workbooks from Step 1 through Step 3 plus. Beyond that, all chess players from higher Steps who went through the lower Steps too quickly.
More information
Thinking ahead is an essential skill in a game from the moment the opening theory stops and you have to think. Flawless thinking ahead is needed for the rest of the game and a bit longer: until you stop playing chess altogether. Practice pays off.
Notably, the ability to think ahead clearly stagnates in many players — this skill is much less practised when working with the computer. In addition to the exercises with moves below the diagram, the blindfold exercises in this workbook are even more suitable for practising that.
